Vermilion Fly Guy

Crafting Unforgettable Fly Fishing Experiences

Embark on a journey with Vermilion Fly Guy, where my primary goal is to offer a distinctive and unforgettable fly-fishing experience. Whether you're a novice angler or a seasoned pro, I believe that catching a musky, pike, bass, or panfish on a fly rod is an exhilarating experience that hooks everyone, pun intended. My mission is to demystify the basics of fly casting and presentation, ensuring that even the inexperienced fly angler can enjoy the thrill of fly fishing.

Meet Your Guide

Allow me to introduce myself, Bob Cords, your guide at Vermilion Fly Guy. I've been exploring the waters of Lake Vermilion since the early 1980s. My passion for fly-fishing was ignited during high school in southern Wisconsin, initially targeting stream trout. Over the years, my love for the sport has evolved into a pursuit of all warm water species. If it swims, I find joy in catching it on a fly.

Perfect Location

As a full-time summer/fall resident on Niles Bay on Lake Vermilion, I have easy access to all areas of the lake, including the nearby Vermilion and Little Fork Rivers. During the doldrums of summer, these rivers provide more opportunities for aggressive fish. These waters are teeming with diverse fish species, providing the perfect backdrop for your fly-fishing adventure.

What It’s Like

At Vermilion Fly Guy, I cater to your fishing preferences, utilizing both fly gear and conventional gear. I provide top-of-the-line equipment from reputable manufacturers such as Fenwick, Redington, Shimano, and Abu Garcia. On Lake Vermilion, you'll enjoy the fishing experience from a spacious Crestliner 1850 Pro Tiller, allowing ample room for casting and fighting fish during fly-fishing sessions. You can switch to a Crestliner 1860 Retriever CC Tunnel Jet Boat for river excursions, ensuring an intimate and productive fishing experience.
